I Got A New Toy!!!

The other day I mentioned that I wanted to start accumulating more toys; the only real problem is that I have limited funds and no “real” reason to purchase anything!  That is/was until last Friday when I received a call about taking photos for an engagement party!  Coincidently I also got a text from another individual who’s still interested in purchasing a few prints for his recently purchased home.  Most of those photos can be seen on my Facebook page, Robert E Armstrong Images-Photography.  Im still trying to come up with a reasonable price for my services.  It was mentioned that I am more likely to be hired for “formal” engagement photos and possibly their wedding photos!! Im thinking if all goes well I could quite possibly be their baby photographer as well.  Having said that, I really don’t want to seem Im over charging for their “informal” engagement party so Ive been asking around to see what’s “average” here on Long Island; I have heard as high as $1200!!  But I won’t be charging quite that much, probably more around the neighborhood of $750. We are getting together this coming Friday and will go over expectations so prior to that I will be doing more extensive research and getting ideas of poses and such.

After speaking with the “boss,”  I decided to purchase a new (used) on-camera flash.  After doing a bit of research I decided on getting the Canon 420EX Speedlite.  I took a couple practice shots (obviously) as soon as I got it home!  I thoroughly enjoy the versatility of having an on-camera flash and I can’t believe it took me this long to acquire one!  I took a few of the “boss” but she was busy working so I didn’t get to practice much with a “human” model so I fell back on the ole reliable models of the house, the dear cats.  Here are a few of “Harley,” she’s a bit cantankerous as you might notice but yet she was cooperative.
