Well its been quite a while since my last blog; so much has happened! To wrap up this year thus far in a nut shell includes getting married!! We got married in Dominican Republic which was a bit of a honeymoon as well. We also visited Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Taos which I highly recommend! Another point of interest includes The Shinnecock Pow Wow.
As for acquiring more toys, my last acquisition includes a Canon 10-22mm wide angle lens which I took to New Mexico. I must admit, wide angle/landscape photography can be a whole new beast! So much needs to be taken into consideration in order to capture a great photo. However, since it was my first official outing with the new lens I wanted to establish boundaries; ISO, Aperture and of course shutter speed. Having considered all of these parameters one must seriously consider other necessities including tripod and perhaps going mirrorless and using the self timer especially when using a slower shutter speed.
I haven’t had the opportunity yet to do beach scenes with a sunset and crashing waves but that is on the list. I am also trying to get some cityscapes of the NYC skyline.
I have also been practicing with my new on camera flash and incorporating with my studio set up. My wife has a bit of modeling experience so she was able to “strike a pose” with me having to direct her since I don’t know much about portrait photography. More photos can be seen on my Facebook page; Robert E Armstrong Images-Photography if you get a chance.
