My Happy Place

I fell in love with Nature Photography when I made my first trip to Costa Rica.  As we ventured from the San Juan Airport to the Mango Moon Resort we had the opportunity to stop at many places for a photo op since we had time before official check-in.  I felt blessed as I saw first hand the Macaws in their natural setting!

Since then, aside from local nature preserves and wildlife refuges, I have been to Yosemite, Alaska including Denali State Park, Cancun and Dominican Republic.  But true beauty often times is in our own back yard!  As I have witnessed here in Long Island.

Connetquot State Park is located near Islip, central Long Island and I made my first visit nearly 2 years ago.  Aside from its beauty, I find it more tranquil, peaceful and I call it my minds’ church.  I typically hike for about 4 miles, doing an outside loop before walking around the fish hatchery which is located in the center of the park then walking around the small lake.  There you will see various forms of wildlife including geese, osprey, swans, ducks, turtles, snakes and deer.  I have also almost stepped on a large mother Wolf Spider carrying her many young on her back; what an interesting site and photo that turned out to be.  Nature at its finest in my opinion!

As my photos may demonstrate, its the beauty in the park that sets my mind free.  I can almost smell the summer breeze and warmth through the photos and although the park is open year long, I can’t wait till Spring and the weather is warmer.
