Losing Inspiration

I remember vividly nearly 30 years ago sitting in art class illustrating a song.  I picked “Sharp Dressed Man” by ZZ Top and thought my rendering was quite good!  It was also during this time I thought how cool it would be to do an actual album cover.  I looked at Steve Miller’s album cover and thought “I could do that”! Flash forward nearly 25 years later and I can finally cross that off my bucket list!

I met Michael Landau during sound check and kinda hit it off.  He’s pretty quiet for the most part.  Just before the show I asked the tour manager if it would be ok to shoot a few shots of the show to which he approved.  After the show, I began talking with Michael and told him that I took a few photos and asked if he would like to see a few.  He gave me his email address and a couple days later I sent him some pics.  He told me that he was working on some solo work and thought one of my pics would be great for his cover!  Of course I said he could use it!

I thought my career as a semi-professional photographer was under way.  At the time I really didn’t think I had what it took to become a professional photographer in spite of all good advice!  It was just a passionate hobby of mine.  Still over the years I have been encouraged to keep trying but as of late Im losing inspiration.  Ive put myself out there, Ive done the research, Ive trained myself on Photoshop and I still find ways to play with the camera. Unfortunately the interest is fading.Indiangirl

To be honest, Ive seen inspiration at many levels and in some cases I just shake my head!!  Obviously some photographers know the ins and outs of fine photography and photo software; still there are those out there where I  wonder how the hell are they in business? Im sure you’ve seen those websites!

Having said that, I do have the passion for photography but its just not happening for me.  I love all aspects of photography and I keep learning new tricks; just the other day I was fooling around with Macro Stacking.  I still want to try “liquid photography” and “ghosting”.  Ive created a few projects that I can’t wait to start on when the weather gets better so at least I know photography will always be a part of who I am, its just that my pipe dream of owning my own portrait studio isn’t going to happen anytime soon.
