A long time friend of my wife invited us to their daughters’ wedding a couple of weeks ago. It was a perfect day and a perfect venue. The Grandview is located along the Hudson River in Poughkeepsie NY overlooking one of the many marinas in the area. I have really never had an interest in becoming a wedding photographer and Im sure if I was the hired shooter for this wedding, the weather would have made me rethink the line of work I chose. The day was in the upper 80’s if not 90’s with no breeze and split pea soup humidity. But the wedding was gorgeous! The bride, spectacular. After the ceremony, the wedding party took off for the obligatory wedding photos while the attendees enjoyed cocktail hour with 5 appetizer bars and hors d’oeuvres. I always carry my camera wherever I go in the event the mood strikes. I knew there would obviously be a professional photographer and Im not one to over step my boundaries, but after the ceremony, I thought Id take a few random shots. Here is just a taste of what my eye captured. I rather enjoy the candid shots as opposed to staged portraits, to me, the smiles are more genuine and subjects are more relaxed.
