I absolutely love photography! But it wasn’t until a couple years ago just how much I do! When I had my zenfolio account, a website created to sell some photography but also a venue for my blog, I wrote a piece of how I came to fall in love with photography.
My niece came to visit and during that time we had the opportunity to sit and chat hear to heart. At the time I wasn’t dating anyone and didn’t have any potentials either for that matter. She simply stated “Uncle, you need to find a hobby!” So, I did.

Before her visit I had taken vacation with an old schoolmate of mine whom I hadn’t seen in nearly 20 years. I was great to reconnect and jumped at the idea of taking a vacation to some remote, exotic place. While there I had my small Canon Elph pocket camera. It was great for saving memories but not much more than that.

That following Spring I took a small vacation to visit a good friend of mine in Vegas. We went hiking up in Red Rocks once again with my small Canon Elph. Again, it was nice for saving memories.

Fast forward to my niece leaving after telling me I needed a hobby. I paid a visit to my Uncle and Aunts house just couple hours away. Although I knew she had a camera, I really didn’t expect it to be a professional camera. I was impressed but didn’t even know it. We grabbed out cameras; mine being the little Canon Elph, and took off to the wildlife refuge 5 minutes away down the street from her house. I was in awe at all the Great Blue Herons that were there; its my favorite bird! I was shooting away at everyone I saw when she said to me matter of factly, “Robert, if you want to be a photographer, you need to get a ‘real’ camera”. I went out and bought a Canon EOS Rebel T1i that very same day.
It has become my passion. The only difference is that I know it now! If anyone cares to see my “passion” I have a business website at robarmstrongimages.com or you can also view my pics on Facebook, both at Robert E Armstrong Images & Photography or Armstrong Images of Long Island. I hope you enjoy!
